Prof. Dr.Valentina E. Balas

Valentina E. Balas is currently Full Professor in the Department of Automatics and Applied Software at the Faculty of Engineering, “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, Romania. She holds a Ph.D. Cum Laude, in Applied Electronics and Telecommunications from Polytechnic University of Timisoara. Dr. Balas is author of more than 350 research papers in refereed journals and International Conferences. Her research interests are in Intelligent Systems, Fuzzy Control, Soft Computing, Smart Sensors, Information Fusion, Modeling and Simulation.

She is the Editor-in Chief to International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms (IJAIP) and to  International  Journal of Computational Systems Engineering (IJCSysE), member in Editorial Board member of several national and international journals and is evaluator expert for national, international projects and PhD Thesis.

Dr. Balas is the director of Intelligent Systems Research Centre in Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad and Director of the Department of International Relations, Programs and Projects in the same university. She served as General Chair of the International Workshop Soft Computing and Applications (SOFA) in nine editions organized in the interval 2005-2020 and held in Romania and Hungary. Dr. Balas participated in many international conferences as Organizer, Honorary Chair, Session Chair, member in Steering, Advisory or International Program Committees and Keynote Speaker.

Now she is working in a national project with EU funding support: BioCell-NanoART = Novel Bio-inspired Cellular Nano-Architectures – For Digital Integrated Circuits, 3M Euro from National Authority for Scientific Research and Innovation.

She is a member of European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT), member of Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and a Senior Member IEEE, member in Technical Committee – Fuzzy Systems (IEEE Computational Intelligence Society), chair of the Task Force 14 in Technical Committee – Emergent Technologies (IEEE CIS), member in Technical Committee – Soft Computing (IEEE SMCS).

Dr. Balas was past Vice-president (responsible with Awards) of IFSA – International Fuzzy Systems Association Council (2013-2015), is a Joint Secretary of the Governing Council of Forum for Interdisciplinary Mathematics (FIM), – A Multidisciplinary Academic Body, India and recipient of the “Tudor Tanasescu” Prize from the Romanian Academy for contributions in the field of soft computing methods (2019).

Prof. Dr. Mufti Mahmud

(Nottingham Trent University, UK)

MUFTI MAHMUD (Senior Member, IEEE) received a PhD degree in information engineering from the University of Padova, Italy, in 2011. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor of Computer Science with Nottingham Trent University, UK. He is a recipient of the Vice-Chancellors outstanding research award 2020 at the NTU and he was also a recipient of the Marie-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2013. With over 18 years of experience in the industry and academia in India, Bangladesh, Italy, Belgium, and the UK, Dr Mahmud is an expert in computational intelligence, applied data analysis, and big data technologies with a keen focus on healthcare applications. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed articles and papers in leading journals and conferences. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM, a Professional Member of the British Computer Society, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, the U.K. During the year 2020-2021, he has been serving as the Vice-Chair of the Intelligent System Application and Brain Informatics Technical Committees of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS), a member of the IEEE CIS Task Force on Intelligence Systems for Health, an advisor of the IEEE R8 Humanitarian Activities Subcommittee, the Publications Chair of the IEEE UK and Ireland Industry Applications Chapter, and the Project Liaison Officer of the IEEE UK and Ireland SIGHT Committee. He has also served as the coordinating chair of the local organization of the IEEE-WCCI2020; the General Chair of BI2020, 2021 and AII2021; and the Program Chair of IEEE-CICARE2020 and 2021. Prof. Dr. Pericles Miranda

Péricles Miranda holds a BA in Computer Engineering from the University of Pernambuco (2010), a Master in Computer Science from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2012), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the same university (2016). He currently holds the position of Adjunct Professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) and chief scientist at the AiBox Lab. He has extensive experience in the field of Computer Science, with an emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, working mainly on topics related to Automated Machine Learning ( AutoML), Supervised Learning, and Meta-heuristic and hyper-heuristic algorithms.

Machine learning techniques are present in our everyday life. However, humans are profoundly involved in every phase of machine learning, seeking good learning performance. To build machine learning techniques easier to apply and decrease the demand for human experts, automated machine learning (AutoML) has emerged as a hot topic with both industrial and academic interest. Dr. Saurav Mallik is currently working as Postdoctoral Fellow in Harvard University, MA, USA. He worked as Postdoctoral Fellow in University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Houston, Texas, USA, and University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida, USA. He obtained his PhD degree in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (C.S.E.) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2017 (works at Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, India as JRF and Scientist). He is the recipient of Research Associate-ship (RA) from CSIR, MHRD, Govt. of India in 2017. Dr. M  Shamim Kaiser is currently working as a Professor at the Institute of Information Technology of Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka-1342, Bangladesh. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Applied Physics Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2002 and 2004 respectively, and the Ph. D. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Pathumthani, Thailand, in 2010. He did his postdoctoral research at Big data and Cyber Security Lab of Anglia Ruskin University, UK. Mohd Helmy Abd Wahab is a Senior Lecturer and a former Head of Multimedia Engineering Lab and Intelligent System Lab at the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in 2014 and 2009. He is currently a Principle Research Fellow at Advanced
Telecommunication Research Center, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, UTHM (2021 – 2025) and Visiting Research Fellow for Center of Excellence on Advanced in Computing, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMaP) (2021 – 2022). In addition, he was a visiting research fellow at Center of Excellence on Geopolymer and Green
Technology under cluster Green ICT, Unimap from 2018 – 2020. He received a Bachelor of Information Technology with Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia and Master of Science (Intelligent System) from the same university in 2002 and 2004 respectively. He held a post of the Academy Research Fellow in Academy of Finland from 2006 to 2011. Since 2018 he is a Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He got his PhD in Physical Chemistry (1996) at Kemerovo State University (Russia) and Doctor of Science (Habilitation, 2011) at Saint-Petersburg Technical State University (Russia).

Prof. Panagiotis Sarigiannidis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of Western Macedonia, Kozani, Greece since 2016. He received the B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2001 and 2007, respectively. Dr Mujtaba has national and international working experience of more than 15 years at industrial and educational sector in the domain of Educational Technologies in TVET, Work & Product-Based Industrial Education and Competency Based Education in TVET. Before joining CHRIST, he has worked as an assistant professor at ACEIT Jaipur, Jagannath University Jaipur, and Amity University Rajasthan. Dr. Tanushyam Chattopadhyay is currently working as a Principal Scientist at TCS Manufacturing Business Group – Practice, CTO, Strategic Initiative to deploy analytics on IoT platform. He was awarded with the University Gold medal in MCA from Shibpur IIEST (the then DU) in 2002. He started his career as research in Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata and later on, joined Tata Consultancy Services Limited in 2004. Later he was awarded with the Ph.D degree from Jadavpur University for the work done at ISI, Kolkata, in 2012. He had training on Speech Signal processing from IISC Bangalore, image processing from IIT Kharagpur, and video processing from IIT Delhi. His current research is evolved around developing an analytics solutions for different client requirements on top a TCS built IoT platform namely TCS Connected Universe Platform (TCUP).He was awarded with many awards in his academic and professional life.

He received the PhD degree in Computer Science from the National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. He is an honorary Professor of Beijing Information Science and Technology University, China, and a visiting Professor of Ningxia Institute of Science and Technology, China. He is also an adjunct Professor of Mandsaur University, India. Dr. Peng has edited several special issues at journals, such as Soft Computing, Journal of Internet Technology, Journal of Real-Time Image Processing, International Journal of Knowledge and System Science, MDPI Algorithms, and so on. His research interests are in designing and analyzing algorithms for Bioinformatics, Combinatorics, Data Mining, and Networks areas in which he has published over 100 research papers.
